Elastic Hearts

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars

Summary:

Victor Reuben.
Most sought out divorce attorney in LA.

Nicole Alessi.
Soon to be ex-wife of Hollywood’s biggest star, Victor’s latest client and his boss’s daughter.

In such a high profile divorce, they can’t afford any extra drama. Luckily, neither one of them has anything to hide.
Unless you count the mind blowing sex they had…
Once…
Twice…
Three times all those years ago.

As long as they leave the past where it belongs, they’ll be fine. But with her wearing those tight dresses and him giving her those heated glances, keeping their hands to themselves is proving to be more difficult than either one of them realized.

It won’t be long before the paparazzi start to smell smoke, and where there’s smoke…

Review:

Nicole and Reuben are a hot couple and it’s easy to sense their chemistry and physical attraction. The sex scenes are sensual and sizzling, making the reader downright envious of what they have. Nicole is easy to like, but even though Reuben is a hot guy who’s great in bed, you sort of wonder what Nicole sees in him. He’s grouchy, career-driven, cold – except where Nicole is concerned, and angry all the time (though by the end you wonder if he has just been lost but not sure what had been causing that empty feeling – duh, it’s Nicole).

The plot lines weave seamlessly turning this one into a real page-turner. You do want the two of them to end up together – even through all of Nic’s returns to “accompany” her soon-to-be ex-husband at another function. And then there is Reuben, who keeps turning his inclination to act – or not act – on his feelings for Nicole in order to keep his license for practicing law and make partner at her dad’s law firm.

It’s easy to feel drawn into the pull from the supporting characters – they’re all very likable, from Reuben’s family and friends to Nic’s neighbor Brent. It’s easy to dislike Nic’s soon-to-be ex-husband Gabe’s actions that have led her to divorce – but did she really want to marry him anyway she was rebounding from her ill-fated fling with Reuben? – and his creepy agent. Even when Gabe does do something that might be what could be considered nice, you question what is really motivating him.

Favorite part:

Witnessing Reuben’s gradual understanding that yes, he loves Nicole and wants – no needs – to be with her no matter what. And thank goodness he finally caves and admits his feelings to Nicole’s father, realizing that it may cost him both his career and legal license.

But this probably sums it up best. (Sigh. Isn’t this what we all want? Deep down?)

Nicole: ““I felt something when I looked at you. Something weird. Something . . . not normal. I don’t know how to explain it other than maybe my soul recognized something in you.”

Recommend?

Sure. Victor and Nicole have a sweet love story, even though the road to get there is a bit rocky.
